Pollutants in New Zealand homes: sources and implications
20 November 2023
Healthy indoor air is a fundamental necessity and poor indoor air quality is responsible for both economic costs and loss of life. New Zealand studies have indicated the presence of pollutants in homes, and preliminary findings from an ongoing study shows that indoor personal exposures to some chemicals appears high.
To understand why the exposures of some pollutants are so high and how to reduce the exposures, the research project ‘Pollutants in New Zealand homes: sources and implications’ will be carried out. The objective of this research project is to:
- Identify the sources of pollutants measured in 150 New Zealand occupied homes.
- Understand the health implications associated with these pollutants.
- Provide solutions to reduce indoor pollutants exposure.
